Website Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo is looking for a senior-level Business Analyst to jump into their International Wholesale Operations Change Management team as a Senior Assistant Vice President (AVP). This is a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC) where you’ll be working right inside the high-stakes, heavily regulated world of investment banking.
Your main mission? Act as the bridge between the tech side and the wholesale operations side to fix, update, and completely future-proof the bank’s Tri-Party Repurchase Agreement (Repo) setups and target operating models.
The Big Picture: What This Role Actually Involves
If you already know the space, you know that a Tri-Party Repo brings a cash borrower and a cash lender together using a third-party agent (usually a giant custodian bank) to handle the annoying background stuff like picking collateral, checking valuations, managing margins, and keeping things secure.
Wells Fargo Tri-Party Repo Operations: Senior AVP (12-Month Contract). In this Senior AVP slot, you aren’t stuck processing daily trades. Instead, you are the change architect. Your job is to dig into the system, find out where things are bottlenecked, figure out what the business actually needs, and design tech solutions that make it easier for Wells Fargo to work with clearing agents, manage collateral liquidity, and keep transaction risks low.
Your Main Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Running Workshops: Get teams from different global business lines into a room, run discovery and requirements sessions, and map everything out into clean user stories using Jira and Confluence.
- Fixing Operating Models: Look at how wholesale operations are running right now, find the gaps, and build a scalable, future-state operating model that can handle market stress.
- Cleaning Up the Repo Lifecycle: Take a hard look at the whole trade lifecycle from trade capture and confirmation to custodian settlement, tri-party allocations, and sorting out break resolutions.
- Managing Collateral: Overhaul the workflows that handle collateral eligibility, daily valuations, automatic margin calls, asset substitutions, and rehypothecation.
- UAT Governance: Put together solid testing strategies, write out user acceptance testing (UAT) scripts, manage testing across different platforms, and handle the defect triage when things break.
- Team Collaboration: Partner up with Project Managers, trading desks, legal, compliance, and outside Custodian Agents to push high-impact operational updates through internal bank approvals smoothly.
What You Need to Bring to the Table
Wells Fargo wants a capital markets pro who knows how to use structured business analysis methods and has deep knowledge of fixed-income and funding products.
The Essentials:
- Investment Banking Background: Serious experience working in an investment banking or Markets Operations environment, focusing heavily on business analysis or change delivery.
- Repo Product Knowledge: A rock-solid understanding of tri-party setups, custodian clearing mechanics, margin workflows, and automated asset substitution.
- Front-to-Back Operations: Real familiarity with systems that handle trade validation, SWIFT messaging, reconciliations, and delivery-versus-payment (DVP) settlement failures.
- Data Feeds: An understanding of how reference data and real-time market data feeds impact collateral valuations and haircut calculations.
- Delivery Frameworks: Total comfort working in both Agile and Waterfall environments, along with daily use of Jira, Confluence, and MS Office.
- Certifications (Bonus): Having a recognized BA certification (like IIBA, BCS, or something similar) will definitely give you an edge.
Why Take This Contract?
- High Visibility: You’ll be leading major, transformational changes that directly affect how the bank handles its liquidity and strategic growth.
- Intricate Problem Solving: This role lets you pull apart and rebuild incredibly complex financial workflows alongside some of the smartest people in market infrastructure.
- Great Culture: Wells Fargo focuses heavily on a compliance-driven, risk-smart culture. This means you get an environment built for operational excellence without a ton of unnecessary administrative drag.
