Data Engineering Internship at Chartbeat

Data Engineering Internship at Chartbeat

Website Chartbeat Inc.

Chartbeat Inc. is looking for a Data Engineering Intern to join their core engineering team. This is a fully remote opportunity (working US East Coast hours) with a company that powers analytics and revenue strategies for the world’s top media brands, including Tubular Labs, FatTail, and Lineup Systems.

The Role: Impact & Collaboration

As an intern, you will jump straight into the action and play an active role in real projects instead of just sitting back and observing. You will be embedded in a small, cross-functional Scrum team consisting of engineers, a designer, a data scientist, and a product manager.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Build & Scale: Work with the core team to develop, scale, and maintain data systems, analysis engines, and APIs.
  • Sprint Participation: Collaborate with your team to plan sprint goals and execute technical tasks.
  • Mentorship: Work closely with a dedicated mentor who will guide you through building and deploying real-world products.
  • Integration: Participate in organization-wide demos, tech talks, and learning opportunities to sharpen your engineering craft.

The Tech Stack

Chartbeat utilizes a modern, high-scale software development stack. You will gain exposure to:

  • Languages: Python (Backend), React/Angular/JavaScript (Frontend).
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Redshift, and Redis.
  • Infrastructure: Message buses powered by Apache Kafka and RabbitMQ.
  • Tools: Version control via Git and project management via Jira.

Candidate Requirements

Technical Skills

  • Preferred Proficiency: Strong foundational knowledge of Python and SQL.
  • Essential Tools: Basic experience with Git for version control and familiarity with Jira.

Professional Qualities

  • Curiosity: A desire to learn how an enterprise SaaS company operates end-to-end.
  • Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively within a diverse, remote team.
  • Reliability: Ability to maintain a consistent schedule during US East Coast business hours.

Internship Perks & Logistics

  • Equipment: A MacBook will be provided for the duration of the internship.
  • Remote-First + Social: While the role is remote, interns in the NYC area will have occasional opportunities to meet at a co-working space.
  • Networking: You will meet department heads from Sales, Finance, and Product to see how the whole business fits together.
  • Monthly Lunches: The company encourages “mixing and mingling” by allowing you to expense two lunches per month when meeting with colleagues.
