The Mission

They hallucinate, they lose track of the original architecture, and they create technical debt at a speed humans can’t keep up with. The goal is to build an infrastructure for AI-powered, spec-driven development. Think of it as a leash and an audit trail for AI agents. What Your Days Will Actually Look Like

Because this is a zero-to-one product inside a corporate incubator, you aren’t going to be sitting in endless meetings managing legacy feature backlogs. You are operating like a startup founder backed by a massive budget:

• Deep-Dive User Discovery: You’ll spend your weeks talking directly to software architects, engineering leads, and developers. You need to pull out their real frustrations with AI coding tools, map their current workflows, and discover exactly where the friction lives.
• Defining the Ground Rules: The AI market shifts every 12 hours. You’ll be responsible for looking at the landscape, tracking how fast autonomous agents are evolving, and defining Bonsai’s unique market position.
• Cutting Scope for Alpha: Developers love building cool features, but you need to ship. You will work side-by-side with JetBrains’ core engineers to ruthlessly strip away the noise and decide exactly what features make the cut for the early Alpha launch.

What It Takes to Get the Job

JetBrains is an elite engineering company built by developers, for developers. They do not hire purely administrative product managers who just shuffle tickets around on a JIRA board.

The Baseline:

• Product Experience: You have at least 1+ years of pure Product Management experience, with a proven history of owning product discovery and delivery from scratch.
• The Technical Bar: You need a deeply technical mindset—and ideally, real production coding experience. You need to understand abstract syntax trees, git workflows, and modern CI/CD pipelines. If you can’t speak fluent engineering with the team, you won’t survive the interview.
• Thriving in Ambiguity: You have to genuinely love chaos. There is no playbook or established market standard for AI agent governance yet. You are writing the rules as you go.

What Makes Your Application Exceptional

• You have taken a product from zero-to-one before (finding early design partners, managing first adoption, figuring out product-market fit).
• You have a deep background building developer tools, IDE ecosystems, or platforms focused on dev-productivity.
• You have personally built workflows, side projects, or tools using LLMs and AI coding agents.
