What You’ll Be Doing Every Day
As a Lead Engineer, you aren’t just maintaining servers you are designing the future of the bank’s compute infrastructure.
- Engineering & Architecture: You will lead complex initiatives to build and upgrade infrastructure that supports critical business applications.
- Problem Solving & Forensics: When high-impact outages occur, you’ll dive into the “why” to create new procedures that prevent those issues from ever happening again.
- Agile Development: You’ll design, code, test, and debug programs using Agile practices, ensuring that infrastructure is treated like code.
- Vendor & Peer Collaboration: You’ll work closely with third-party vendors (like IBM) and internal teams to evaluate software solutions that fit the bank’s long-term goals.
- Modernization: A unique part of this role involves exploring how GenAI and other emerging technologies can modernize classic Mainframe platforms.
What You Need to Get the Job
Wells Fargo is looking for a specific blend of old-school systems knowledge and modern scripting skills.
Required:
- 5+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering experience.
The “Perfect Match” Skills:
- Mainframe Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience with z/VM and z/Linux (installations, patching, vulnerability remediation, and server builds).
- Tooling: Experience with Velocity tooling and managing change/incidents in a production environment.
- Hardware Knowledge: Exposure to pSeries server hardware and firmware.
- OS & Scripting: Experience with AIX and RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux), along with Python and shell scripting for automation.
- Innovation Mindset: An interest in using AI to streamline mainframe operations.
Work Location & Expectations
- Location: This role is based in Bangalore or Hyderabad, India.
- Shifts: You’ll need to be flexible to work morning or afternoon shifts (IST) to stay in sync with global partners.
- On-Call: You must be willing to participate in on-call support rotations critical banking systems never sleep.
- Communication: Strong coordination skills are a must, as you’ll be the bridge between global partners and local technical teams.
