The Functional Analyst position at General Motors (GM) is a high-level technical role focused on modernizing and maintaining the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) infrastructure that powers GM’s global supply chain.
As GM transitions toward an all-electric future, this remote role is critical for ensuring that data exchange between the company and its thousands of global partners remains seamless and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Functional analyst : Design, configure, and manage complex EDI systems to support global procurement and logistics.
- Standardization: Implement and maintain EDI standards (such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, and VDA) to ensure compatibility across different regions and vendors.
- Problem Resolution: Act as a lead for troubleshooting complex transmission failures, mapping errors, and connectivity issues.
- Collaboration: Partner with IT architects, supply chain managers, and external vendors to integrate new EDI workflows into GM’s existing ERP environment.
- Modernization: Assist in the migration from legacy systems to cloud-based or API-driven data exchange platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with EDI mapping, translation software, and communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, FTPS).
- Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of automotive supply chain processes and data requirements.
- Analytical Ability: Strong capacity for analyzing large datasets and translating business requirements into technical configurations.
- Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between technical IT requirements and business-focused supply chain goals.
