Wells Fargo is hiring an Associate Personal Banker (SAFE) to join its National Branch Network team within the Delaware South market.
This frontline, customer-facing role combines traditional branch operations with relationship-focused financial consulting. You will act as a primary point of contact for local clients, helping them navigate everyday banking needs, opening new accounts, handling loan/credit applications, and proactively introducing digital tools while staying firmly aligned with financial compliance standards.
Major Responsibilities
- Relationship Building & Discovery: Conduct discovery-driven conversations with branch visitors to map out their financial goals and match them with appropriate deposit, credit, or digital banking products.
- Everyday Financial Services: Manage end-to-end customer onboarding, open new checking and savings accounts, process service requests, and accurately facilitate consumer credit applications.
- Frontline Transactions: Step onto the teller line as needed to accurately execute high-volume cash handling, process routine transactions, and maintain tight operational auditing standards.
- Proactive Client Outreach: Initiate phone calls, emails, and follow-ups to existing customers to build rapport, check on their financial well-being, and introduce relevant branch solutions.
- Internal Referrals: Work closely with your branch teammates to smoothly hand off clients to licensed investment bankers, mortgage loan officers, or business specialists when complex needs arise.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: 6+ months of customer interaction experience (gained through traditional retail/hospitality work, structured corporate training, military service, or higher education).
Skills & Traits Needed
-
- Regulated Industry Background: Prior experience working in financial services, banking, or a heavily regulated retail environment where policy compliance and procedural precision are strict daily expectations.
- Digital Advocacy: High comfort level learning internal software platforms and a natural ability to confidently guide traditional clients through online and mobile banking applications.
- Risk & Compliance Focus: A solid track record of adhering to strict operational guidelines, with the ability to maintain accuracy under pressure and proactively escalate potential fraud or risk concerns.
- Outbound Comfort: Confidence initiating outbound customer outreach channels to uncover new growth opportunities for the branch.
-
Point To Note
- Region: Delaware South
- Core Focus: Relationship management, needs-based financial matching, and teller operations.
- Career Path: This role is designed as a foundational springboard within Wells Fargo, offering structured training and management coaching to prepare you for future mobility into licensed banking, lending, or branch leadership roles.
The SAFE Act Federal Expectation
Because this role involves processing applications for and discussing consumer credit or mortgage products, your employment is contingent upon successfully registering as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO). This requires passing a comprehensive federal background and fingerprint screening to maintain compliance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (SAFE Act).
