Senior Lead Product Manager – Pre-Hire

  • Anywhere

Wells Fargo is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Senior Lead Product Manager – Pre-Hire (internally classified as a Senior Lead Product Owner) to steer the Pre-Hire product portfolio. This critical role sits within the Human Resources Transformation & Products organization.

As a senior individual contributor, you will own a highly complex, matrixed product domain that directly shapes how every new employee transitions into the bank. The domain spans essential operational functions including candidate onboarding, global background checks, employment eligibility verification, and employee relocation/mobility.

Job Role Overview

  • Division: Human Resources Transformation & Products
  • Role Type: Senior Individual Contributor / Strategic Product Leader
  • Core Systems Footprint: Workday, ServiceNow, Cisive, and interconnected enterprise platforms.
  • Key Challenge: Balancing rapid automation and seamless user experience with the incredibly strict legal, risk, and security compliance controls required of a global financial institution.

Main Responsibilities

As the primary Product Owner for the Pre-Hire ecosystem, your days will be split between long-term strategic alignment and deep Agile execution:

  • Vision & Roadmap Ownership: Define, refine, and champion the multi-year Pre-Hire product vision and roadmap, aligning it seamlessly with evolving regulatory landscapes and broader enterprise priorities.
  • Cross-Platform Workflow Design: Lead cross-functional initiatives to design end-to-end workflows, system integrations, and process automations bridging Workday (core HCM) and ServiceNow (service delivery).
  • Backlog & Feature Prioritization: Translate high-level business strategy into prioritized features, epics, and highly technical user stories with unambiguous requirements and measurable business outcomes.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Align senior HR executives, legal, risk, and engineering teams behind a unified strategy. Act as the primary technical partner for external vendor systems (such as Cisive for background screening).
  • Risk & Control Mitigation: Proactively map out dependencies, manage security risks, and facilitate tough trade-off decisions to ensure all onboarding automation satisfies rigorous financial compliance benchmarks.
  • Metrics & Change Management: Establish, monitor, and report on core product adoption metrics and operational efficiency KPIs to drive continuous platform improvement.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of proven experience in Product Management, product development, strategic planning, process management, change delivery, or as an Agile Product Owner (or equivalent military/educational background).

Skills & Core Expertise

  • HR Domain Background: Deep familiarity supporting Talent Acquisition, Pre-Hire, or Employee Onboarding ecosystems, particularly with hands-on system architecture knowledge of Workday and ServiceNow.
  • Regulated Enterprise Experience: A proven track record of shipping software products within a heavily regulated, complex enterprise environment (e.g., banking, fintech, healthcare) with intense compliance and control barriers.
  • Agile Leadership: Advanced mastery of product management disciplines, specifically lifecycle roadmap development, WSJF (Weighted Shortest Job First) or similar prioritization frameworks, release planning, and managing backlogs using Jira.
  • Influencing Without Authority: Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to navigate a highly matrixed corporate environment and align conflicting priorities among senior leadership.
