ICON is seeking a Senior Director of Pharmacovigilanc (Post-Marketing) for a remote leadership position based in the Western United States. This executive role combines operational leadership with strategic growth responsibilities to direct drug safety and pharmacovigilance activities across the organization’s post-marketing team.

Role Overview & Compensation

  • Position Title: Senior Director, Pharmacovigilance (Post-Marketing)
  • Location: Remote (Must be based in the Western United States)
  • Salary Range: $178,008.00 – $222,510.00
  • Travel Requirements: Approximately 15% travel required
  • Employment Type: Contingent upon having the legal right to work in the country where the role is based

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Director, your duties will span strategic planning, team leadership, financial management, and client relations:

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and execute comprehensive pharmacovigilance strategies that align with company goals and regulatory standards.
  • Direct all pharmacovigilance and drug safety operations to guarantee quality, efficiency, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee cross-functional collaborations to support safety assessments and risk management initiatives.
  • Monitor and stay current with emerging industry trends, regulatory updates, and evolving clinical practices.

Team & Quality Management

  • Lead and manage pharmacovigilance teams to ensure effective safety monitoring, compliance, and accurate reporting.
  • Maintain rigorous quality standards through proactive departmental training, active oversight, and quick resolution of quality-related issues.

Financial & Business Growth

  • Partner with Business Development and the broader organization to drive continuous growth in the post-marketing service area.
  • Manage project resources proactively within allocated budgets to optimize costs, maximize client satisfaction, and safeguard project margins.
  • Drive operational efficiencies to maximize revenue and manage contract change orders to protect ongoing project profitability.

Client & Relationship Management

  • Directly partner with clients to understand, anticipate, and implement tailored solutions for their specific needs.
  • Serve directly as the Project Director for assigned high-level projects and programs.
  • Represent the organization and lead presentations at professional meetings and industry conferences.

Candidate Profile

Job Criteria: Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline or healthcare-related field
  • An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in pharmacovigilance and drug safety operations
  • Proven track record managing regulatory compliance.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated capabilities in managing teams
  • Proven success influencing cross-functional corporate initiatives.

Technical Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of post-marketing pharmacovigilance regulations
  • Strong grasp of safety reporting requirements and risk management practices.

Financial Acumen

  • Quality understanding of corporate financial drivers, including profitability, cost control, and profit margins.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
